This puzzle is made up of 16 wooden puzzle pieces, consisting of a white and a dark wood block and cut at various angles. Each piece represents one of the possible ways that two pieces of two colors cut at different angels can be joined. The objective is to assemble the pieces into a two-layer, 5x5 checkerboard pattern with the colors matching on both layers and with all of the pieces fitting flush at the top of the puzzle’s wooden container.

Originally called the Just Fit puzzle, it won the 1990 Hikimi puzzle competition in Japan. It is an extremely difficult puzzle, and not for the faint of heart. This is a high quality version of the puzzle, its fit and finish being one of the best we have to offer.
